Chorlton Eats... more Fruit and Veg!

A Dash of Seasoning

Eat with the seasons and  lower your carbon foodprint

Shipping food all around the world uses huge amounts of fuel and resources. Sea freight is more environmentally-friendly, but lots of our fruit and veg comes by air – then there’s onward distribution by lorry, meaning traffic congestion, poorer air quality and the burning of even more fossil fuels. Trying to eat seasonal veg that’s grown in the UK cuts those food miles – a lot!

And you can quite a few, if not all, of these veg if you have a garden, a balcony or a windowsill. Turn those food miles into food metres!

Here’s our best of British – there’s a veg for all seasons, all bursting with freshness, vitamins and good stuff.
